The 3-day competition is being organised by SEBA in collaboration with AFA sports, VOE foundation and the Enugu State Basketball Association will see teams from the five eastern states do battle in a round robin format to determine who wins the star prize both in the male and female categories.

Match day 1 encounter witnessed exciting and top class basketball competition as Team Imo edge pass Ebonyi during the overtime by 41-37, Coal City Miners (Enugu) were outclassed by a dominant Team Abia by 23-28, Anambra emerged victorious against Imo 39-37 and in the last game of the day, Ebonyi defeated Enugu 37-30 in the male category.

In the female category, despite scoring double digits in the third and final quarter Coal City Queens (Enugu) lost narrowly to Team Imo 22-23 and Team Anambra defeated Ebonyi 32-25.

However, tomorrow’s encounter will feature the boys from Abia facing off against Team Anambra in the first game, the resilience and doggedness of Ebonyi side will be put test once again when they challenge a formidable side in Anambra.

For the female category, Coal City Queens (Enugu) would try to salvage their quest for the title when they face off against Ebonyi and the last game of the day would be between Anambra and Imo.

The competition which is the first of the five basketball series will go through the other southeastern states before the end of the year.
