Over the years, research have proven that sports plays a pivotal role in the human development, and so the Former Technical Director of Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF), Engineer Chika Chukwumerjie has hinted on the significance of sports in the modern-day society, advocating for sports to be embedded in school curriculum.
He made this assertion over the weekend, during his two-day visit to Enugu, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Energy FM sports correspondent, Ugo Okeiyi, he expressed satisfaction over the level of awareness, display and responsiveness of kiddies taekwondo class, adding that his presence made will impact positively on them.
Responding on issue of the Sports Policy, the Olympic medalist applauded the Federal Government for the initiative and the passing into law, noting that the avenue will avail both the private and multinationals the opportunity to participate actively in the business and development of the sector.
However participating in sports helps build leadership skills, competiton, mentors, expression while the body metabolism also benefits in terms of improved cardiovascular health, management of weight, reduction in blood pressure, lower risk of heart diseases etc.
