Rivers State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Chris Green is confident that Nigeria Premier Football League champions, Rivers United Football Club can qualify for the semi-final of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The Portharcourt based club who are the country’s sole representative in the continental football showpiece qualified as runners up from group B with 10 points, will square off against Young Africans of Tanzania in the quaterfinal scheduled to hold on April 23.

Speaking In a recent telephone interview from.his base in Portharcourt, the commissioner stated that they are competing with the best eight clubs in the continent, hinting that the team is in high-spirit and ready for any challenge.

According to the Captain of the Team, Festus Alan, the players and management are happy and fufilled for the qualification, adding that with the motivation and backings from the state government, the players are willing to go the extra mile.

On his part, Technical Adviser of Club, Stanley Eguma, shared his experience in the competition and what his expectations are for his side.

Meanwhile, Rivers United’s goalkeeper, Victor Sochima who got a call-up to the Senior Men’s National Team recently, narrates his ordeal and significant of the invitation to his career.

The Former Delta Force, Kwara United and Heartland goalkeeper confirmed that his performance in the league has attracted so many football agents from wihim and outside the country, noting that he will wait for the right time to make a decision concerning his next club.
