Assistant Coach, Remo Stars Football Club (Ikenne), Olayinka Adeniyi has hinted on the club’s ambition for the 2024/25 league season, describing domestic football in the country, as work in progress.
The Coach made the statement shortly after his side’s 2-1 victory over FC Kallon (Sierra Leone) in Match day 2 of the ongoing preseason competition tagged 042 Coal City International Cup, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, yesterday.
According to him, he was still confident that they were going emerged victorious despite being wasteful in the first 45 minutes, expressing gratitude to the management of the club for the confidence imposed on him to lead team.
He further confirmed that the tournament created an avenue for the technical crew to access the new players in preparation for the season, while applauding the organizers of the competition for bringing such event.
Ismael Baba put the Sierra Leonian ahead on the stroke of half time when he tapped home from close range, but the Sky blue Side restored parity from a Vela Akorli’s header on resumption of the interval, while Peter Onuoha finished off a through pass to give his side the victory in regulation time.
In the first game played earlier, Nigeria National League side, and current Enugu State FA Cup winner, Coal City FC played out a 2-2 draw against former NPFL champions, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).
For tomorrow’s games, Remo Stars will square up against Coal City by 3pm, it will be the battle of two powerhouses of domestic football as 2022 CAF champions league winner, Enyimba will trade tackle with 3SC by 5pm, and for night game which comes by 7pm, will witness reigning NPFL champion, Enugu Rangers up against the Sierre Leonen side, FC Kallon.
