FC INTER DEFENDS ENUGU STATE FA TITLE.

Defending Champions, Inter Football Club of Ngwo successfully retained their title in the just concluded 2023 Enugu State Football League yesterday by defeating Purple Krown FC of New Layout 2-0 at the Rangers International Training Pitch, Liberty Estate, Independence Layout.

Both sides came into the game, brimming with so much confidence and experience, hoping to make the opportunity count as the teams tried to outclass each other before the end of regulation time.

Ebuka Okeke opened the scoring for the Ngwo team midway through the first 45 minutes as the attacker dribbled past two Purple Krown defenders at the edge of the penalty area to slot the ball into the net.

It was Inter FC who extended the lead 10 minutes later as Ogbodo Ifeanyi finished off a pass from his teammate, deep in the midfield from a very tight angle.

However, the second 45 mins lived up to expectations, as Purple Krown introduced fresh legs upfront in search of a goal but the resilience of their opponent held forth for the remaining part of the game.

Speaking after the game, Chairman Enugu State Football Association, Barrister Tony Ugwu has expressed satisfaction over the level performance of the participating teams in this year’s edition, adding that they would continue to improve in every aspect of the game.

In his words, Captain of the Inter FC, Oko Chidera, was excited for victory, giving kudos to his team mates for determination and doggedness throughout the competition.

To this end, Inter FC and Purple Krown FC will be representing Enugu State in the 2023 Nigeria League One, NLO, Playoffs scheduled to take place later in the year.

Meanwhile, the three week tournament which witnessed talented young players from 13 teams from different parts of the metropolis and its environs exhibited scintillating and exciting football artsisty and skills as they competed for the major prize.
