Aside being an important unifying tool and a platform for youth empowerment, research has proven that sports, also discourages youth restiveness and crime, and so the Chairman, Enugu State Taekwondo Association, Ebere Amaraizu has reiterated the significance of sports as an instrument of change and hope in the modern society, soliciting for partnership with the relevant stakeholders.

The Enugu State Taekwondo Association (ESTA) in collaboration with Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), ASTRIC, Odera Ugo Foundation would be hosting the U-15 boys and girls Taekwondo Exhibittion and Poomsae Challenge tagged “OUR CHILDREN MUST THRIVE” at the indoor sports hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe slated for 30th July, 2022.

He made this disclosure today during the association courtsey visit to the Nigeria Television Authority, Enugu Network Center, Independence Layout.

Briefing some of the management and senior personnels of the broadcasting house regarding their visit, the sports administrator explained that the forthcoming program will help reorient young people, activate consciousness of parents, guardians and caregivers to see themselves as coaches, mentors and role models that are called to duty.

Also speaking, Managing Director, Odera Ugo Foundation (OUF), Rotarian Uchegbu Ugochukwu noted that there is urgent need for human development capacity, positive impact in young minds and uphelding the societal values and norms, emphasising on the role of the parents in the life of a child.

Responding, the Zonal Director, Nigeria Television Authority, Enugu Network Center, Mrs. Francesca Nwagboe commended the activity of the association, adding that the sport will definitely reshape and expose the youths to the tenents, core values and education for a better tomorrow.
