The Enugu State House of Assembly is set to pass a legislation to see the turnaround of the sporting sector not just for talent discovery and competition but also for revenue generation for the state.
This was made known by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Uche Ugwu, during the 7th edition of the grassroots boxing talent hunt program, held at the Post Primary School Management Board Headquarters, PPSMB, Enugu, recently.
In his address, the Speaker reiterated the government’s stance in engaging and development of the youth positively, hinting that he will continue to throw his weight behind the program.
Also Speaking, Enugu State Chairman of the PPSMB, Reverend Father Hilary Mgbodile expressed gratitude to the Speaker for his gesture, calling on the students and young people to take advantage of the opportunity.
In his words, former World International Boxing Board, Lighter welterweight champion, Mazi Ikechukwu Okoronkwo stated that their focus is to groom the junior secondary school students to become Olympic and world champions in the near future.
