The Enugu State Government in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Sports Development is set to host the first edition of the National Council of Sports with the theme “sports for national unity and socio-economic growth’.
The seminar which will witness officials of the ministry, Commissioners of Sports, Directors of Sports, Coaches, Athletes and sports enthusiasts from different parts of the country participating,
will be held from 20th to 22nd May, 2024, at the old government lodge, Enugu.
According to report from the State’s Ministry of Information Department, the aim of the event was to bring together sports stakeholders from within and outside the state to brainstorm and proffer suggestion on best ways to develop sports in the country.
The ministry also noted that sports business cuts across and drives several commercial activities including media, broadcasting, merchandizing, tourism, hospitality, hinting that the sports sector have option to explore the dynamic commercial ventures available within the regions.
It concluded that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the special guest of honour, while the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh would be the keynote speaker and the Chief host, is the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah.
