Technical Adviser, Enugu Rangers Football Club, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has praised his oriental rival, Enyimba International (Aba), following his side slim 1-0 victory in the opening game of the Preseason football extravaganza, tagged 042 Coal City International Cup, yesterday.
Despite the nationwide protest, fans, supporters, passerby troupe in their number to catch a glimpse of the spectacle and thrilling moments of what the two powerhouses of domestic football would display at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
Speaking after the match, the tactician was full of admiration for the Aba giant’s performance under their new coach, Yemi Olarenwaju Daniel.
According to him, it was a difficult game for them because they are in a rebuilding process, noting that Enyimba was much stronger and better than his side in the first half.
He further stated that the former NPFL champion, possessed more of the ball, showed better quality and created chances, but they were lucky to win the game.
Rangers secured the win with a 51st-minute left-footed strike by Agu Kenechukwu, following a clever pass from Isaac Saviour that sliced through Enyimba’s defense, with a precise cut-back from Okorie Chiedozie.
