The maiden edition of the Basketball Invitational Championship tagged ‘Basketball is Giving Tournament”dunks off today as 16 participating teams will jostle for ultimate prize.
The 4-day championship which is scheduled for the Indoor Sports Gymnasium Hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium will witness teams from SouthEsst, Southwest, South South regions and Abuja, challenging for honours
According to the organizers, the aim of the championship is to create competition among the players from Enugu and other regions, adding that the platform would give exceptional players the opportunity to play in bigger clubs.
They also reassured that more of such developmental programs would be hosted in the state, while calling on basketball enthusiasts, individuals and corporate bodies to invest in the game.
To this end, the championship which is proudly supported by the Enugu State Basketball Association, Jordan Nwora Foundation and Scent Hub will reward the overall winner with the whooping sum of 1 million naira while the runners-up and the third best team will receive 500,000 naira and 300,000 naira respectively.
