Basketball has really lived up to expectations as one of the powerhouses in the world of sports because of it’s massive fan base, sponsorship deals and dominant presence on social media and so the first edition of the southeast basketball championship for the five eastern states is definitely a worthy experience.

Sports correspondent, Ugo Okeiyi who monitored today’s event at the indoor sports hall of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, despite putting up a brilliant performance tean Imo narrowly lost to a superior Abia team by 43-44, Anambra controlled and dominanted play, defeating tournament favourite, Enugu by 25-24 in the morning session.

For the afternoon session, team Abia bounced back from their loss in the last game, outcalssed and outshine against ebonyi by 50-18, and the last game of the day saw a resilience team Imo controlling activities but lost the last quarter to an experience team Enugu by 30-32.

However, the semi final stage of the competition will take center stage tomorrow morning, with team abia lurking horns against Imo while anambra would square up against abia. And the winners from both games will play later in day to determine the overall winner of the competition.
