Over the years, marathon events in most developed countries of the world generates revenue for the citizens, attracts tourism and promote sporting excellence, and so the organisers of the maiden edition of the Enugu Marathon have concluded plans and preparations for a hitch free activity.
The event which is tagged “run for the coalcity” is sponsored by Amstel Malta drink in conjunction with Kuriocity Productions would take place on Saturday, 1st October, 2022.
Speaking in a media parley at the pavillion of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Senior Trade Marketing Manager, Chidi Egwu explained that the primary target of the event was for the residents of Enugu, adding that they will continue to sponsor the program annually but that will depend on the outcome of this edition.
In his address, the Commissioner, Enugu State Ministry of Youth and Sports, Hon. Manfred Nzekwe ably represented by Director Organizing in the same ministry, Mr. Boniface Onovo appreciated and applauded the gesture of the organisers, assuring of a calm siren and adequate medical attention.
On his part, Managing Director, Kuriocity Limited, Ororo Pattaya revealed that the winners in both male and female categories will be rewarded with a whooping sum of #500,000 naira each while the runners up gets in both categories will also get #250,000 each.
He also reaffirmed that online registration has already commenced, while manual registration is ongoing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and Okwara Square.
However, the hallmark of the event was the unveiling of the participants apparrel, medals and consolation prizes for the different categories of winners by Mr. Boniface Onovo and Chidi Egwu.
